Today I thought I’d show you an example of an oil painting that was painted in colour but that was based on an old black and white photo.
The artist took direction from the client as to what colours she wanted him to paint their clothes in but also did quite a bit of research on what the likeliest colours would have been. I hope this gives you inspiration as to what you can commission with us. Ancestral portraits are becoming increasingly popular, so if you only have old black and white photographs and are not sure on the colours that your oil portrait should be painted with, we can also help and do research on this.
