Waiting to Cross by Albert Moore in Sotheby’s Victorian & Edwardian Art Sale

Waiting to Cross Moore

Sotheby’s London is holding their Victorian and Edwardian art sale on 15th November, 2011 and one of its star pieces is a painting called Waiting to Cross by Albert Moore (1841-1893).  Waiting to Cross is expected to fetch between £300,000- £500,000. Moore’s painting depicts 3 girls waiting for a boat to take them across the river. The colour scheme is sophisticated and the way the three female figures are intertwined evoke depictions of the Three Graces.
