Lemuel Francis Abbott (1760 -1803) painted many portraits of Lord Horatio Nelson, the one above is actually one of many. This portrait is probably the best-known portrait of Lord Nelson, but Abbott made many numerous replicas (perhaps as many as 40), with slight variations on the basic pattern.
