So you’re surfing the internet trying to find a reputable art reproduction company that hand-paints the best art reproductions on canvas possible at an affordable price. Hard isn’t it? No doubt you’ve come across a plethora of art reproduction companies in China offering to paint you “Museum quality reproduction oil paintings” for around £50.
The only problem is, as your common sense will tell you, if you’re only going to be charged £50 – £75 for an artist to hand-paint you an oil painting you can imagine what type of quality oil painting you’ll end up with. The image these art reproduction companies put next to their low prices is usually the original oil painting, so you might be thinking, “Wow that’s amazing, my fine art replica will look like that for just £50ish UK Pounds” when in fact, no that’s the original painting of the “Mona Lisa” or “Starry Night” etc that you’re examining and not what your reproduction oil painting will look like.
The best thing to do if you are indeed looking for the best art reproductions on canvas possible, is to first look at their samples or art reproduction portfolio this will give you a great idea of the quality of their art reproductions. If they do not have a portfolio or any samples of their reproduction oil paintings on their website, then forget about that company straight away. If they refuse to put their own art copies up for you to examine, then that means trouble. These art reproduction companies know that there’s no way you’ll part with your hard-earned money once you see their actual quality of their replica oil paintings, hence the reason why they don’t. These paintings certainly won’t be the best art reproductions on canvas that you’re searching for.
I wrote a blog post a while back on the different levels of canvas available. A lot of American and Chinese art reproduction companies use cheap nylon canvases to paint your oil painting on. Why? Well they’re cheaper to buy and if they are charging such a low amount to start with, you can’t expect them to use top quality canvases or oil paints. Ask them for a photo of their canvas to make sure and definitely specify that you do not want your art reproductions painted on Nylon, this quality is so awful for an oil painting.
